About the bell and steeple

St. John’s present church was built in 1984; the steeple and bell were built in 1851…

The bell was cast by George H. Holbrook whose father apprenticed under Paul Revere. The tower was remodeled—to accommodate the bell—by prominent North Haven citizen Solomon Fowler Linsley.

St. John’s Church is in process of restoring the beautiful bell tower and steeple. The tall church steeple completes the image of how a New England town green should appear.

Architects for the project are Lazarus & Sargeant of Wallingford. Contractors are Valley Restoration LLC of Litchfield.
