Ministries in the Community

The Sandwich Ministry for the Midnight Run

The Midnight Run is a ministry that helps clothe and feed the homeless in New Haven and beyond.  A group of women from St. John’s, referred to as “The Sandwich Ladies” meet weekly on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. to make sandwiches and bag snacks and any other donations that are given to this cause.  These donations are delivered to appropriate places in the New Haven Area.

Once a month, on the third Tuesday, a larger group also makes soup to deliver to Columbus House for that evening’s dinner.

We also collect men’s coats and clothing, toiletries, new socks and new underwear during the cooler months, which is delivered to Columbus House.

North Haven Community Food Bank

The North Haven Food Bank has a simple way to contribute to its efforts to provide food to our neighbors in need: You can order through Amazon Smile to have food delivered directly to the Food Bank (which is located at our church neighbor, North Haven Congregational Church).  Scan the QR code with a mobile device to place such an order.
